Record Store Day
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
The original idea of Record Store Day was conceived by Chris Brown, and founded in 2007 by Eric Levin, Michael Kurtz, Carrie Colliton, Amy Dorfman, Don Van Cleave and Brian Poehner as a celebration of culture starring independent record stores in the USA. All stores unite with artists to celebrate the art of music.
Special vinyl editions, CD releases, and various promotional products are made exclusively for RSD day, and hundreds of artists in the United States and in various countries around the world make special appearances and performances in stores. Festivities include presentations, live performances, DJ sessions, etc. Metallica officially started Record Store Day at the record store Rasputín in San Francisco on April 19, 2008, and since then Record Store Day is celebrated on the third Saturday of each April worldwide.
