El Puzzle Blanco
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
El puzzle blanco was a true crime format broadcast by Telecinco in 2008. Each episode reconstructed a real criminal case in España, breaking down the facts until all pieces of the crime fit together.
It combined dramatizations, 3D recreations, archive material, and interviews. It stood out for including testimonies from the convicts themselves from prison, along with the analysis of investigators and forensic experts. The narrative progressed from the discovery of the crime to the judicial resolution, showing how an investigation is articulated from scattered clues. An early example of the television boom of “true crime” with a technical and didactic approach.
This format compiled the best of police and crime investigative journalism in 13 episodes. Each episode reviewed the facts of the different cases, reconstructed them using 3D graphics, and occasionally featured interviews with the criminals from prison. Its broadcast had an average of 18% share.
